The Government Lunatic Asylum,

Hongkong.

I beg to state herewith that by order of the Stralsund Royal Prussian Aints-gericht. I have been appointed guardian of Vr. Carl Ahrens (formerly in the firm of Blackhead and Company) who is in your Asylum.

I should feel obliged therefore if you would kindly give me a detailed statement about this patient es- pecially with reference to the question as to whether it is like- ly he will improve or not. Is he still in your Asylum? What are the symptoms of his illness? Is it possible that Ahrens will re- cover sufficiently to work? Who pays the fees for his mainte- nance in the Asylum ? That is amount of the fees ?

Since I have to report about the matter

to the Royal Aintsgericht I should feel greatly obliged by your replying as soon as possible. I thank you in anticipation for your answer and I beg you in case Ahrens' condition gets worse to let me know.,
